Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas reported that, according to government plans, the level of the tax burden on the Belarusian economy should not exceed 26% by the end of 2015. According to the deputy, tax burden reduction will be carried out primarily by decreasing the tax rate and the value added tax's rate.

Sergei Rumas noted that Belarus has occupied the last place in the international ranking of business conditions in terms of taxing for the last three years. «If we’ve already caught up with leading countries in the level of the tax burden, we still have a long way to go in direction of tax administration,» BelTA quoted Vice-Premier.

Thus, Sergei Rumas has informed that the average statistical enterprise in Belarus is currently spending 798 hours per year for calculations relating to the tax payment. It took 900 hours for this purpose in 2009, and it’s planned to reduce this figure to 250 hours by 2014.

Sergei Rumas also noted a high level of social contributions in Belarus. He explained that, together with contributions to social security, tax burden would rise up to 40%.

«The new program aims to explore and propose specific mechanisms for redistributing the tax burden on social security for the enterprise to slowly pay less and the population to pay more. At the same time wages of working citizens will increase, thus affording these payments. So, we can reduce the tax burden on businesses and, accordingly, to make their products more competitive,» said Sergei Rumas.
