Employees of the main department for combating organized crime and corruption at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus in Minsk disclosed the activity of brothels network, providing paid services of a sexual nature via the Internet. As reported by the Interior Ministry, part of an international criminal group was composed of citizens of Belarus and Latvia.
Criminals have organized two studios, where young girls, mainly English speaking students, were providing sexual services to visitors of paid specialized sites on-line. The «models» were to keep the client in the paid video chat as long as possible. What is more, the access to the sites was blocked for residents of the CIS countries.
The money from the illegal business were remitted to the Latvian banks, and then legalized through the Belarusian company, led by the criminal network organizers or their relatives.
During searches in the brothel studios, investigators seized a large sum of dollars, as well as expensive computer and networking equipment. Further searches are currently underway.
The staff of investigation department of Minsk city executive committee of the preliminary investigation filed a criminal case under Part 2 Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Belarus («The use of prostitution or creation of conditions for the prostitution»).
The Interior Ministry notes that this kind of «sex-industry» has been revealed in Belarus for the first time.
