Belarus Plans to Issue Br200 Thousand Banknote

National Bank of Belarus plans to issue a new banknote of Br200 thousand in early 2012. As stated by Chairman of the National Bank Nadezhda Ermakova on October 20, it will display the Belarusian architecture works.

In addition, Nadezhda Ermakova informes that the National Bank has introduced a proposal to the Government to withdraw Br10 and Br20 denominated banknotes from circulation and round prices up to Br50. Nadezhda Ermakova argues that by undue additional costs, "Euroradio."

As Telegraf previously reported, October 12, the Ministry of Commerce of Belarus sent a letter to trade bodies, recommending rounding retail prices to Br50 and Br100. At present the smallest banknotes of Br10, Br20, Br50 and Br100 are available in the country.

Then the National Bank reported to Telegraf that the recommendations of the Ministry of Trade had nothing to do with the decision to withdraw any notes from circulation.
