Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Uri Rosenthal has once again called on the EU to tighten sanctions against the Belarusian authorities. FM of the Netherlands was appalled with the enforcement of the death sentence upon Vladislav Kovalev and Dmitri Konovalov.
It is unacceptable that execution still takes place in Belarus. I reiterate my call for the EU to tighten sanctions against the last dictatorship in Europe," Uri Rosenthal said in a statement.
As Telegraf previously reported, March 17, relatives of Vladislav Kovalev received a letter from the Supreme Court of March 16. According to the report, the sentence upon Vladislav Kovalev had been enforced. Later, there appeared information about the execution of Dmitri Konovalov.
Such a rapid execution of the sentence was denounced by representatives of several human rights organizations, European institutions, in particular, the European Union and the Public Chamber of Russia.
