Belarusian van Renault-420 collided with a freight locomotive at an uncontrolled railway crossing between the villages Golynko and Rudnev in Smolensk region (Russia) on Saturday, March 3. As a result of an accident, two Belarusians were killed - a truck driver from Lepel (a 25-year-old man), as well as his shift-relief worker.
Crew members of the locomotive, which was carrying coal, were not injured. In the aftermath of the accident, the restoration of railway communication in this area took rescuers more than two hours, reports Gorodnews.ru.
According to the preliminary data, the driver of the wagon drove to the railway crossing at a red traffic light, right in front of the train. The details of the accident will be further investigated.
