Meat Gets 35% More Expensive in Belarus, while Milk and Bread - 10%

In Belarus, May 17, maximum marginal sale prices of beef and pork may go up by 35%. This is stated in the decree of the Ministry of Economy № 41 of May 8, 2012. According to the document, maximum marginal sale prices of milk, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, bread and bakery products will be raised by 10% in two steps (by 5% in May and by 5% in June).

As Telegraf previously reported, in April, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food adopted Resolution № 20 and № 21, thereby increasing the purchasing prices of crop and livestock production. In particular, procurement prices of cow milk, cattle and the meat of cattle, hogs and pork, sold for state needs increased 1.7-2- fold.

Procurement prices of grains and some cereals of the harvest in 2012 rose by 65% on average. Malting barley price went up in 2.9 times, sugar beet – in 2.5 times, oilseeds rape - in 3.1 times and buckwheat - in 2.1 times.
