Belarus and the European Union advanced in the issue of visa regime simplification. This was stated by the Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov in an interview with TV channel "Belarus-TV." "Now we are moving towards a settlement of visa relations between Belarus and the European Union," he said.

Simplification of visa regime involves «Schengen visas cost reducing, and quite significant, let’s hope, as well as speeding up their issue, and if I may say so, greater predictability of visas obtaining,» Sergei Martynov stressed.

According to him, the ministry insists that there should be no discrimination of Belarus and Belarusians, including visa issues, BelTA informs.

The Minister praised the recent agreements between Belarus and Poland, Latvia and Lithuania on the facilitation of border crossing for residents of border areas (50 km on both sides of the border). «Thus, there will be virtually unlimited possibility of movement in this territory for residents of border areas. This is a major step forward in the subject of visa relations between Belarus and the EU,» he said.
