Igor Sukach, Director General of foreign limited company "Alternative Digital Network" told how the devaluation of the Belarusian ruble had affected the work of major Internet service providers. "Of course, the economic situation could not but affect the work of providers," he said.

«But we are aimed at building Ethernet network. We’ve been persistent in our plans even in the recent situation, which is currently underway,» said director general of the company, owning «Atlant Telecom» and «Shparki Damavik» brands.

He explained that the telecom operator is constructed by reinvestment — that is, all earned money go to the network development. «We’ve got revenues only in rubles, as well as the expenditure, which is a great advantage over the previous devaluation processes: we used to spend a lot as we were paying currency for Beltelekom services. It’s no longer the case now,» BelTA quoted Igor Sukachev.

However, he added, the rate of investment may be reduced due to depreciation as the cost of equipment is tied to the dollar in any way.

«And not only the equipment: we buy the optics and copper cables, while the cost of copper is growing on the market, it has grown even more than the exchange rate. Of course, this amount of money is not enough for the volume, which we expected. But that in no case changed our strategy and actions in the market: we are actively involved in construction, and I think that in future it won’t change,» said the head of «Alternative Digital Network.»

Commercial operator is investing in building its own Ethernet network in Minsk, believing that this process will have been completed by 2016, including regional centers of Belarus. Under the changed financial conditions, construction time may increase, but the provider is going to continue investing and building the necessary infrastructure.
