EU Allocated €10 Million for Energy Sector Development in Belarus

The European Commission has decided to provide financial assistance to Belarus in the amount of €10 million to develop the effectiveness of the energy sector. This was reported to Telegraf by the EU delegation in Minsk. The funds will be used to support energy-saving technologies in the sectors of consumer goods and industrial products in Belarus.

Funds will also go to the improvement of the laboratories and standardization programs in energy efficiency.

In addition, the program provides a series of pilot projects and information campaigns in the region to raise public awareness of the energy sector’s key challenges.

Funding is provided within the European Instrument of neighborhood and partnership. Apart from Belarus, the program brings together another 16 countries — partners of the EU, bordering on the EU to the east and south.
