Belarus Wants to Introduce UN Procurement System

The procurement system of the United Nations can start working in Belarus, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Yeudachenka said. According to him, this system may be of interest to small and medium business in Belarus, as the volume of purchases is estimated at tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

«This could be an important component of the export activity of the Belarusian enterprises», — Andrei Yeudachenka said. According to him, after the crisis in Belarus, the situation has changed with the procurement, and enterprises need any significant orders for their products. Working in the UN procurement system will enable further business development in the country, BelTA informs.
As Natasha Fernandez, the representative of the UN procurement department, explained, Belarusian companies need registration to participate in procurement. The main requirements that the UN imposes on suppliers are correspondence of goods and services to the UN requirements, company’s experience in international business practices and financial stability of the company.
Natasha Fernandez said that all procurement procedures are conducted on a competitive basis, in the form of competitive bidding. The choice is based on the optimal price and quality.
UN tenders give Belarusian producers a new market, Smolkin
In turn, Boris Smolkin, director of National Center for Marketing and Price of the Foreign Ministry, believes that Belarusian producers participation in such UN tenders is access to the vast market for goods, labour and services. So, according to the specialist, computing and office equipment, furniture, design services, engineering, information technology are in a great demand.
Market of the services demanded by the UN is also varied. It includes freight, sea, rail transportation, freight forwarding services, warehousing and logistics, as well as insurance, legal and financial services.
