Unparalleled Explosive Blew out in Minsk Subway, KGB

Chairman of the Committee for State Security, Vadim Zaitsev said on April 13 that explosives, blown out in Minsk subway, has no analogues in the world and therefore it's "of great interest to experts," including the foreign ones. According to him, it has also been confirmed that the attack was carried out by unhealthy people, "not only in their psyches, but also ambition."

«Sometimes such actions (attacks, manufacturing explosive devices) can be performed by seemingly very unprofessional people. There are no super pros, but people who can make an explosive device,» the head of the KGB.

«Unparalleled explosives, unfamiliar to the security services, were used during the attack on July 3 (2008) in Minsk. The components of those explosives were used during the attack on the subway,» Vadim Zaitsev said and noted that one gram of such substance is enough to tear the man’s hand off, RIA «Novosti» news agency.

According to the KGB chairman, the criminals manufactured explosives themselves. «It was special explosives,» said Vadim Zaitsev. To the question of where the terrorists had taken the explosives, he replied: «On the Internet.»

He also said that the attack may have had a customer. According to Vadim Zaitsev, the alleged perpetrators might have partners. «We will give more detailed information in the coming days. Perhaps, there’s somebody behind this crime,» said the chairman of the Belarusian KGB.

Vadim Zaitsev refused to disclose the reasons for the crime, alleging the ongoing investigation. He also did not answer the question of the prime suspect’s membership in any political party, BelTA informs.

The KGB chief also informed that the suspects were detained very quickly, which is the merit of the Belarusian law enforcers, as after their arrest it was found out that «they had been planning other actions, preventing the investigation.»

Vadim Zaitsev emphasized assistance of the public in the disclosure of the attack. According to him, more than 2.5 thousand people had been interviewed.
