President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that the citizens of Minsk should basically build housing without state support. This opinion was expressed by the head of state on June 15, visiting the complex of residential buildings in the neighborhood East in Minsk.

«All the country’s population should not be concentrated in the capital, and people should go where there are job places and manpower is wanted,» said Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA informs.

«There is one unbending principle in this world: a person goes to the workplace,» said the president. Alexander Lukashenko gave an example of a speedy construction of a new plant in Svetlahorsk, financed by China. «People to build housing are wanted there. If it’s impossible to build in Minsk, one should go and work there,» the head of state.

In addition, Alexander Lukashenko demanded to avoid increasing the cost of building on previous contracts.

As reported to the President, one managed to keep the cost per square measure of housing in the first quarter of this year and even reduce it by 5%, finishes included. Currently, the weighted average cost of 1 square meter of housing for citizens in need of better housing and supported by the state, was fixed at about Br1.7 million. According to Deputy Prime Minister Anatoli Kalinin, the projected price will be about Br2.2 million by the end of the year, taking into account price rise.

«You say it as an official. But what if you’ll press on builders? In terms of timing first of all. Yes, it’s hard for them to perform these tasks under such circumstances. But please, make it one to two months earlier, the President said, referring to the Deputy Prime Minister. — So we should do almost impossible to somehow support the construction.»

«Here we have to give up everything, but not to offend a man. New contracts, well, make them cost Br2-2.2 million. A person would choose then. But we cannot treat him this way. This problem should be solved at any cost. We should protect those who have already signed contracts and who has the housing being built,» demanded Alexander Lukashenko.

He also noted that we should generally work on reducing the cost of housing, through reducing the deadlines as well.

«The main thing is to keep the building complex. This time will pass. If there is no construction — there is no development,» summed up Alexander Lukashenko.
