Russian company Uralkali is preparing an application for purchase of 50% +1 share of Belaruskali, the largest Belarusian producer of fertilizers, and is planning to file it within the next few months. This was announced by the company president, Vladislav Baumgertner, in an interview with British media.

According to him, Belaruskali is an interesting possible acquisition for Uralkali, although negotiations for the purchase of the Belarusian company haven’t been initiated yet, reports The Daily Mail.

Uralkali owners expect to become leaders among manufacturers of fertilizers after buying Belaruskali, thus shifting the Canadian company PotashCorp from the first position.

Vladislav Baumgertner explained his interest in purchasing the Belarusian company by the fact that the Uralkali owners hope for the fertilizers price rise due to their increased demand triggered by the future growth of the world population.

«We anticipate fertilizer market to grow dramatically within the next five to seven years,» he said.

As Telegraf previously reported, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko assessed Belaruskali at $30 billion, but the Russian side expressed the need to attract independent experts to its evaluation.
