Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Ihor Rachkovski reported on July 1 that an additional frontier is planned to be put up near Belarusian nuclear power plant in the future. According to him, a separate border guard won't be created as there are Smarhon Border Forces there now.

«When NPP has built, we’ll carry out our functions to protect the border, strengthen the number of units and equip the area with modern technical systems,» BelTA quoted Ihor Rachkovski.

According to Telegraf, the development of excavation for the NPP construction will begin in September 2011 in Astravets in Hrodna region. Launch of the first unit is scheduled for 2017. The work on NPP second block is planned to start in 2018.
