Belarus Postpones Eurobonds Floatation in Russia

Ministry of Finance of Belarus has decided to indefinitely postpone the scheduled floatation of the first tranche of government bonds of RUB7 billion in Russia. The corresponding order was signed by the Belarusian Minister of Finance Andrei Kharkovets on November 23, 2010.

According to Telegraf, Belarus planned to place RUB7 billion of bonds on the Russian market in November 2010. This was announced by Head of international financial relations and state debt of the Belarusian Finance Ministry Andrei Smolski on October 21.

In summer, 2010 Belarus placed Eurobonds of $600 million at 9% for five years. Presidium of the Council of Ministers of Belarus approved the placement of the Belarusian government bonds of $500 million on Asian markets on November 23.
