According to preliminary data, average wages in Belarus will be above Br1.5 million ($503) by the end of 2010. This was reported by the government of Belarus. Nominal gross average wages reached Br1.3 million ($433) in September 2010.

As noted in the government, the annual wage growth has been fixed in Belarus since 1996. The real wages of Belarusians increased in 4.9 times during this time. For comparison, real wages increased in 2.5 times in Russia, Kazakhstan — 3.1 times, in Ukraine — 2.7 times over the past 15 years, BelaTA.

Belarus ranks 3rd after Russia and Kazakhstan in dollar-wages ranking among the CIS countries. According to experts, this is largely due to the high wages in the mining industry of these countries.

Thus, the average salary amounted to $695 in Russia and in Kazakhstan — $558 in July 2010. At the same time the figure was $409 in Azerbaijan, in Armenia — $307, in Ukraine — $300, Moldova — $243, in Kyrgyzstan — $157, in Tajikistan — $79.

As Telegraf previously reported, according to the National Statistics Committee, the nominal average monthly salary of Belarusian workers amounted to Br1.3 million in September, a 1.4% increase (Br18.3 thousand) over August 2010. In this case, the real earnings of the Belarusians (taking into account the increase in consumer prices for goods and services) decreased by 0.2% compared with August 2010.
