A Turk Is Sentenced to Seven Years' Imprisonment for Organizing Sex Tours to Minsk

Minsk Central District Court has sentenced a Turkish citizen, who organized sex tours to Belarusian capital. The criminal was associated with one of the travel companies, working in Minsk, reported in law enforcement institution of the capital.

The man was detained by officers of the unit of drug control and anti-trafficking of Central district police department of Minsk city police and Belarus’ Interior Ministry in December 2009in Minsk. Using his relations in travel business, the offender organized a spicy program for the tourists coming to Belarus, which key point was to provide sexual services by prostitutes.

Dates with Minsk prostitutes were organized in rented apartments as well as rooms in expensive hotels. Price for customers totaled 150 dollars per hour in average. The Turkish citizen got 50-80 dollars from this amount as «commission charges». Most of his clients were guests from Turkey, BelTA informs.

The court found the Turkish citizen guilty of committing a crime, stipulated by article 171 «The use of prostitution or creation of conditions for prostitution» of the Criminal Code of Belarus and sentenced him to seven years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property. However, the sentence has not entered into force yet. Within 10 days from the date of announcement, the convicted person has a right to appeal.
