Above 80 Police Officers Hospitalized after December 19, MIA

Deputy Head of the Hospital of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs Mikhail Tushinsky reported on December 26 that more than 80 law enforcement officers had been delivered to the MIA hospital after the opposition rally at Independence Square in Minsk on December 19. Nine of them had to be hospitalized.

According to the deputy chief of the hospital, physicians documented victims’ head injuries, bruises, broken bones of legs and hands, fractures of the nose, as well as problems with the eardrums, ONT.

At the same time, there was no information about either the number of injured protesters, or the degree of severity of their injuries.

According to Telegraf, Special Forces from Bobruisk were known to have beaten 79 members of the MIA during the opposition rally in Minsk. According to one version, the non-resident Special Forces soldiers hadn’t been warned about the presence of the security forces’ representatives in civilian clothes among the protesters in Minsk. However, the Interior Ministry neither confirmed nor denied this information.
