The OSCE Representative on Freedom Dunja Mijatovic asked the Belarusian authorities to remove all restrictions on the accreditation of journalists at a press conference in Minsk on October 27. "The accreditation procedure should not be used as a tool aimed not to give you (journalists — Telegraf) to do your job," said the OSCE representative.

At the same time, according to Telegraf, she noted that accreditation was an entirely legitimate procedure, used in each country. However, according to Dunja Mijatovic, she has lately received numerous complaints about the difficulties with the accreditation of journalists working in Belarus, mainly from foreign media representatives.

Dunja Mijatovic said that she had raised this issue at meetings with the ministers of information and foreign affairs of Belarus, as well as a representative of the presidential administration. «I asked to develop a particular standardized procedure to obtain accreditation in a single place, in order not to ask for it again and again every time you want to cover an event at a certain institution,» the OSCE representative said.

She also said she would send a letter from the Belarusian government. «My visit will not end with what I’ll tell you today. I will keep on working with the Belarusian government, raising the questions that I raise here,» Dunja Mijatovic said, emphasizing a good sign of the growing interest of foreign media towards the presidential campaign in Belarus.
