According to observations, the level of air pollution in many major cities of Belarus increased from August 5 to 11. The causes of heightened concentrations of harmful substances are continuous heat and lack of precipitations. It was reported in the department of information analysis and forecasting of air pollution levels of the Republican Center of Radiation Control and Environmental Monitoring.

Thus, maximum concentration of formaldehyde in Vitebsk (M.Gorky and Cosmonavtov streets, Lyudnikov and Victory avenues) exceeded the standard of quality in 1.1-1.4 times. In Brest (Pushkinskaya and September 17 streets) — in 1.4-1.9 times, in Mogilev (Pervomaiskaya street) — in 2.1 times, in Orsha (K. Marx and Molodezhnaya streets) — in 2-2.3 times. Maximum concentration of formaldehyde in Minsk (Shchorsa street) was 1.2 MPC, BelTA informs.

Maximum concentrations of solid in Mozyr (Proletarskaya street) and Minsk (Bobruiskaya street) amounted to 1.3 MPC and 1.5 MPC, respectively.

Maximum concentration of ammonia in Mogilev (Krupskaya lane and Chelyuskintsev street) were within 1.3-1.7 MPC, of phenol (Chelyuskintsev street) — 1.1-1.9 MPC. Short-term increase of nitrogen dioxide (1.2 MAC) is recorded on Ostrovskogo street.

According to the continuous measuring, the increase of solid of PM-10 fraction in the air was recorded at the weekend. Average daily concentrations on August 7 and 8 in Zhlobin (Prigorodnaya street), in Mogilev (Schmidt avenue and Movchanskogo street), in Minsk (Nezavisimosti avenue, Timiryazev and Radialnaya streets) and in Vitebsk (Chkalov strret) were within 1.4-1.8 MPC.

In other monitored towns quality standards were not exceeded.
