Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina said on December 17 that all the election campaign dramas took place only in the Internet. According to Lidia Yermoshina, some forces are attempting to discredit the elections, deploying scandals and provocations on purpose.
The CEC head noted that a small number of electoral commissions had dealt with similar facts, BelTA informs.
Lidia Yermoshina said that the CEC had received several complaints from observers, «identical in content.» According to the head of the CEC, it looks like a planned action. Lidia Yermoshina explained that observers had been complained of being denied to spend the night at polling stations by the members of election commissions. In this regard, the Central Election Commission made a unique solution, prohibiting observers to sleep at the polling stations.
Lidia Yermoshina also announced the two appeals about the compulsion to early voting, stressing the rare occurrence of such complaints. Other problems and deficiencies, according to the CEC head, are not observed.
