Authorities Oblige Online Sellers to Pay Maximum Unitary Tax

Minsk City Council approved the size of the unitary tax rate for individual entrepreneurs and individuals by the decision № 286 in accordance with the decree № 143. According to the decision, the owners of Internet shops in the capital will pay the maximum rate of unitary tax.

As the department of individual entrepreneurs and individuals control of Inspectorate of Ministry of Taxes and Duties (MTD) in Minsk informed, retail sales through online stores is widely spread in the city.

«Its scope is not inferior the trade in stationary facilities. IE’s revenue from retail sales through the Internet is, on average, 1.5-3 times higher than the earnings of entrepreneurs who trade in stationary stores», noted in ministry, BelTA informs.

However, as informed in ministry, the unitary tax is paid on each commercial facility (market place), but when trading via the internet shops, you should pay one unitary tax rate, regardless of the number of online shops.

According to the decision, for example, the maximum unitary tax rate for Internet retail sale of auto and motorcycles will be 1.23 million rubles a month, leather clothes — 920 thousand, bakery and dairy products — 200 thousand rubles.

The ministry emphasized that while preparing Minsk City Council’s decision, they were basing on unitary tax rate, approved by the previous decision of City Council (№ 219). «When recalculating, we took euro exchange rate on January 1, 2010 (4 119 rubles), because the decree № 143 entered into force from this time», reminded in the ministry.

The decision of Minsk City Council came into force on April 4 of this year.
