Average Public Sector's Wage Increased by 0.9%, Belstat

According to the data of National Statistics Committee of Belarus, the country's nominal gross average salary in public sector industries amounted to 801.2 thousand rubles in the first two months of this year. In February of this year, the average public sector's wage rose by 0.9%, comparing with January.

According to National Statistics Committee, real wages of employees of public sector institutions in January-February of 2010 increased by 4.7% over the same period of last year. The figure in February increased by 0.4%, comparing with January of 2010, BelTA informs.

In health organizations, the average salary in February was equal to 795 thousand rubles, in educational institutions — 736.5 thousand. According to statistics, in organizations of science and scientific services, this figure was 1.43 million rubles, including 1.38 million rubles in institutions, carrying out research effort, of which in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus — 1,15 million.

In organizations of culture and art, the average wage in February of this year amounted to 777.1 thousand rubles. Employees of physical culture and sports have an average January earnings in amount of 1.33 million, noted in Belstat.

115 thousand people worked part-time in January-February, Belstat

According to statistics, in the first two months of 2010, about 115.9 thousand people (3.4% of monthly number) worked in the regime of forced part-time employment (in January-February of last year, the figure was 4%), AFN informs.

In February comparing with January, the number of employees transferred to part-time working week (day) decreased by 24.4% and amounted to 39.8 thousand people, the number of employees, who were granted a leave by the employer’s initiative, decreased in 1.8 times and amounted to 26.6 thousand people. Of these, 12.4 thousand people were sent to a leave without being paid, said in National Statistics Committee.

According to Belstat, the number of officially registered unemployed at the end of March of this year amounted to 43.8 thousand people, which is 0.2% less than in March of last year and 0.7% more than in February of this year. The level of registered unemployment amounted to 0.9% of the economically active population.
