Bakiyev Is Not in Minsk, Belarusian Ambassador in Bishkek

Ambassador of Belarus to Kyrgyzstan, Viktor Denisenko, informed that the president of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, is not in Belarus. This statement was made by diplomat to the protesters who gathered in front of Belarusian embassy in Bishkek to protest against the declaration of Alexander Lukashenko that Belarus is ready to grant political asylum for the president and his family.

The protest in front of Belarusian Embassy was initiated by April 7 movement. As the leader of the movement, Andurush Taktanasyrov, stated, the picketers demand an interim government of Kyrgyzstan to file an official protest against the statement of Belarusian leader, Belarusian service of Radio Liberty reports.

As Telegraf previously reported, on April 17 Russian mass media informed that president of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, in the morning on April 17, departed by airplane from Taraz (administrative center of Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan) for Belarus.

According to another data, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, whose resignation from the post of President of Kyrgyzstan was issued on April 16, did not leave the territory of Kazakhstan.

The administration of the President Alexander Lukashenko also stated that they have no information about the arrival of the head of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus. In his turn, President of Belarus stated on April 18, that he still considers Kurmanbek Bakiyev to be «Kyrgyzstan’s legitimate president and is ready to receive him in Belarus».
