Belarus — Leader among Post-Soviet Countries in Growth of Euro

Belarus has become a leader among the countries of the former Soviet Union in the euro growth from December 31, 2010 to April 7, 2011. European currencies have grown by 9.77% from Br3.972.6 to Br4.360.59 for the period. Belarus is followed by Uzbekistan, where the sum-to-euro rate depreciated by 9.47% (2.370.17 against 2.165.13), and Armenia, where one euro is equal to 526.1 dramas, which is 9.34% more than in late 2010.

Further, according to Telegraf correspondent, there goes Kyrgyzstan (an increase of 8.76%), Tajikistan (7.23%), Turkmenistan (7.13%), Azerbaijan (6.99%), Ukraine (6.71%) Kazakhstan (5.79%), Moldova (4.53%) and Georgia (1.83%).

In Russia, the euro has fallen by 0.13% against the Russian ruble, while the ratio of local and European currencies has not changed in Lithuania and Latvia. In turn, Estonia has joined «Eurozone,» thus having lost the national currency.

As Telegraf previously reported, according to the dollar analysis on December 31, 2010 and March 31, 2011 Belarus was third among the countries of the former USSR in the growth of the official dollar exchange rate to the national currency. Dollar-to-ruble rate grew by 1.5% (from Br3.000 to Br3.045) in the first quarter of 2011.

In general, the Belarusian ruble against a basket of currencies has decreased by 7.01% since the beginning of the year despite +/- 8% corridor in 2011. Thus, for about four months of 2011 the depreciation has almost reached the allowed parameters of the whole year.
