The absence of democracy in Belarus is one of the major challenges facing NATO in the XXI century. This opinion was expressed by former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski in his speech at the World Forum in Wroclaw (Poland) on October 7.

«Afghanistan is a tough test for the future of the Alliance, nobody knows how to solve this conflict today. There are also regional conflicts, such as Abkhazia, Ossetia, or the lack of democracy in Belarus,» the former Polish president said, PAP.

Aleksander Kwasniewski, however, noticed that NATO is not only a military alliance but an alliance of standards and values.
