Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov called on the authorities of both countries to resolve the issue with the visa bans of some Russian citizens to Belarus. He notes that the Belarusian authorities abuse the agreement that "a member country of the Union State may prohibit the entry into its territory of certain nationals of the Union State other side."

«Unfortunately, chiefs of city and district departments of Internal Affairs of Belarus sometimes intensely take advantage of this fact,» said the ambassador, noting that in Russia this decision can only be declared by the court.

«We need to sit down and think how to avoid these acute situations and find a solution,» said Alexander Surikov, RIA «Novosti» news agency.

As Telegraf previously reported, the Belarusian authorities banned a Russian journalist of «Dozhd» TV channel, Rodion Marinichev, from entering Belarus for five years. Monday, May 30, a journalist was detained by police in Minsk after an interview with the wife of former presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, Irina Khalip. On the eve the journalist had recorded an interview with former candidate Vital Rymasheuski.
