Belarus Agreed with Russia on Measures for Loan

Monday, April 11, delegation of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian side continued negotiating in Moscow on a $1 billion loan in accordance with the previous agreements. Activities, which can be implemented within the framework of economic policy of Belarus in the medium term, were identified during the meeting.

«The parties agreed to hold consultations in Russian Finance Ministry with representatives of the Ministries of Finance and National Banks of the parties beginning from April 14, 2011. The exchange of views at expert level will accelerate the execution of the final agreements,» said the Finance Ministry of Belarus.

As Telegrapf previously reported, the Russian side demanded from Minsk to conduct structural reforms in the economy as a condition of granting a credit to Belarus. Besides the loan from Russia, Belarus is negotiating for a $2 billion loan from Crisis Fund Community.
