Belarus Allowed to Leave Old Tariffs on Cars Imported by Individuals

Following the meeting of the Customs Union Commission, Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, reported that the rates of duties on cars imported to Belarus by individuals temporarily remain the same. "We are ready to make exceptions in terms of cars import by citizens of partner countries, however, the period of transition should be clearly limited in time", Russian prime minister said.

As Vladimir Putin — who met in St. Petersburg with his Kazakh counterpart, Karim Massimov, in the absence of the Prime Minister of Belarus, Sergei Sidorsky — stressed, «we intend to support this decision, taking into account social significance of the issue for our partners», Itar-Tass informs.

Moreover, according to the head of the Russian government, during the talks the parties negotiated on an agreement on special economic zones, as well as «coordinated the procedure to import goods for personal use within the Customs Union».

Russian prime minister added that as a result of consultations between experts from the three countries «they attained to resolve a number of problems, then, principle agreements were specified».

In his turn, Karim Massimov regretted the absence of Belarus’ representative at the meetings of the Customs Union. «We expect that Belarus will join the agreement under the negotiated conditions», Kazakh Prime Minister said.
