Belarus and Lithuania have similar approaches to the development of national economies, Belarusian Economy Minister, Nikolai Snopkov, said on May 21 at VI Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum in Grodno. According to the chairman of the Belarusian part of Belarusian-Lithuanian commission on trade and economic cooperation, today the traditions of the Belarusian-Lithuanian relations are being restored.

According to the head of Ministry of Economy, «the thesis that the neighbors should be friends is corroborated by global crisis once again». The minister believes that only together we can achieve high results, and therefore urged businessmen of both countries to make joint efforts for the development of national economies. «In principle, we have very similar approaches to the development of economies, to the points of growth», BelTA quotes the words of Nikolai Snopkov.

The chairman of the Lithuanian part of the commission, Minister of Economy of Lithuania, Dainius Kreyvis, reminded about difficult period survived by the two countries in economy in 2009, and the negative impact of the global economic crisis. But, in his opinion, neither geopolitical changes nor the time can destroy the centuries-old cultural and economic relations between Lithuania and Belarus.

The heads of both commissions expect that the current economic forum will give concrete results for the two countries.
