Belarus and Russia are almost ready to sign a package of documents on future Belarusian nuclear power plant. It was reported on August 4 by First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Vladimir Semashko. "In August-September, the parties will solve all problem issues, and necessary documents on cooperation, concerning future Belarusian nuclear power plant, will be signed", deputy head of the government noted.

According to Vladimir Semashko, documents on future nuclear power plant have been already prepared. With regard to intergovernmental agreement on nuclear power plant construction, then the Russian side connected it with certain other agreements, Vladimir Semashko reported, BelTA informs.

«There are questions, but they are not of principle», first deputy prime minister added. At the same time, Vladimir Semashko expressed his confidence in that all differences would be removed and such an agreement was close to be signed. «I think that there are no major contradictions, after all we’ll find a compromise and will sign an agreement», deputy head of the government stated. However, Vladimir Semashko did not give complete assurance that these documents would be signed for sure.

To the date, Belarus has no plans to establsih a joint venture with Russia to export electric power from future NPP, Semashko

In addition, according to Vladimir Semashko, to the date, the Belarusian side does not plan to create a joint venture with Russia to export electric power, to be produced at future NPP. «We have no plans to establish joint venture. There are pluses and minuses in this regard», First Vice-Premier emphasized.

Deputy head of the government also told that the Russian side set as a condition for signing documents on NPP to establish joint venture to sale electric power, produced at future nuclear power plant.

In its turn, the Belarusian side offers Russian partners to implement a project on electric power transit from Kazakhstan and other countries through the territory of Russia. According to Vladimir Semashko, there also being discussed the possibility to organize swap electricity supplies from Kazakhstan. «It is not a secret that in Kazakhstan one kilowatt-hour can be bought at little more than one cent, but not at five cents, as it is in Russia», Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

Furthermore, First Vice-Premier stressed that «all this is negotiation process, in which the Belarusian side tries to satisfy its own interests and the interests of Russia».
