Relations between Belarus and Russia have reached a deadlock, however, they should be built in a mutually beneficial manner. "I also agree that we've got Russian-Belarusian relations deadlocked- I was among those people who were the first to express this opinion," the politician said.

According to him, «the preparation of key projects of the Union State, joint projects» put Russia under a kind of «pressure in question of its additional financial infusion or energy prices reduction.» As he believes, the list of requests to Russia is «huge», Interfax reports.

Alexei Kudrin said that «issues relating to solvency and foreign debt» are critical. As an example, he reminded the situation with the preparation for single currency introduction, when «there was a condition on the additional large grants, that is, non-repayable funds to be transferred to Belarus as a kind of support for this project.»

However, Russian Deputy Prime Minister believes that his country should build its relations within worked out principles and international agreements, not to be broken.» As he says, countries should build their relationships «on a business basis, to seek mutual benefit in joint projects and decisions within the union state.»

Finance Minister reiterated that the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State is planned at the moment and work within the established frames will continue.
«Under these formats the Council of Ministers will seek mutually acceptable solutions. The decision will apparently not be accepted, provided for non-agreement at least from one part. When there’s mutual understanding, then the solution will be achieved and work for good of both countries,» Alexei Kudrin concluded.
