The Russian company Gazprom plans to finish negotiations with the Belarusian authorities in June to sell the remaining 50% stake in Beltransgaz. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Belarus, Alexander Surikov, on June 9. He stressed that the Russian side "has no questions" over the valuation of the joint venture, previously undertaken by Dutch experts.

Alexander Surikov assured that after getting full control over Beltransgaz the Russian side intends to «ensure the company’s normal existence,» BelaPAN.

The Russian ambassador stressed again that Russia does not link purchase of Beltransgaz shares to the transition to equal pricing for Belarus and Russia. According to Alexander Surikov, these are two different things.

According to Telegraf, the Russian company Gazprom, which earlier acquired a 50% stake in Beltransgaz for $2.5 billion, is currently in talks to buy the remaining shares of the Belarusian company.

Belarus offered gas deliveries to Belarus at Russian domestic prices as one of the prerequisites for the sale of Beltransgaz shares to the Russian Gazprom. This was stated by deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko on June 7. Nevertheless, the Russian side insists on the two issues being unrelated.
