Secretary of State of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, Pavel Borodin, expressed the need to unite the two countries into a confederation on the eve of the meeting of Russian-Belarusian Parliamentary Assembly. "Nobody says that Russia will absorb Belarus. But the confederate unit of our countries should be stipulated at the constitutional level," he said.

«We have a State Commission on the Constitutional Act. It haven’t been working for more than six years. As well as the Commission on single currency. But these are the most important structures. I believe we should resume their work,» he said, reports «Komsomolskaya Pravda in Belarus.»

According to Pavel Borodin, the countries have long been united. Belarus receives 95% of Russian energy, from 45% to 80% of the components to factories. Only the program of the Union State employ 26 thousand businesses, which is 5 million jobs. And under the law, the citizens of Russia and Belarus are, in fact, citizens of one state with equal rights,» he said.

«By all the laws of macroeconomics, we should have long introduced single currency. Now everyone expects a train with the Russian rubles to go from Moscow to Minsk, removing thus the Russian-Belarusian border. Besides the fact that there’re practically no boundaries between us, everything else is nothing,» stressed the union official.
