Belarus and Russia to Trade Military Goods Free of License and Fees

Federation Council of Russia ratified the treaty on the development of military-technical cooperation between Belarus and Russia at the plenary meeting on December 15, 2010. Under this agreement, enterprises of the defense-industrial complex of the two countries will be able to trade free of licenses, taxes duties and fees between themselves.

As reported in the Russian Federation Council, the ratified contract
gives the right to the parties to control the availability and intended
use of the products, delivered for military purpose, as well as the
obligation to provide the conditions for its implementation.

Responsibility
for coordination of issues, relating to the range of products for
military use, its volume, conditions and terms of supply practical
implementation are assigned to the Federal Service for
Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia and the State Military
Industrial Committee of Belarus.

As noted in the Federation
Council’s Committee on Defense and Security, this agreement will promote
further development of military-technical cooperation between the two
countries. It will equip the armed forces, other military units, law
enforcement agencies, special services, as well as a regional grouping
of high-performance weapons systems. Besides the cooperation of Belarus
and Russia within contract will support the scientific, technical and
industrial-technological potential of the two countries.

According
to Telegraf, the agreement between Belarus and Russia on the
development of bilateral military-technical cooperation was signed in
Moscow on December 10, 2009. Under the terms of the agreement, the
parties undertake
not to sell or transfer the products or information, received under the
contract, to a third party, including international organizations,
foreign legal entities and individuals.

The Belarusian side ratified the treaty on July 15, 2010 by the  relevant presidential decree.
