Belarus and Russia Want to Invest One Billion Dollars into Ghana's Economy

Belarus and Russia stated about their interest to invest one billion dollars into Ghana's economy, in particular, in oil and gas industry of this African country. A delegation of Belarusian and Russian businessmen arrived in Accra invited by Ghana's Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, to outline areas for cooperation and investment.

During the meeting, they also mentioned fertilizer production, security and safety services, product ion and assembling of tractors and other automobiles as areas they were interested in, PANA agency informs.

According to the head of the delegation, Anatoly Tkachuk, Belarus and Russia want to contribute to Ghana’s success story. «We shall be ready to invest in the areas of trade, industry and agriculture», the head of the delegation noted.

«Those projects, which would be initiated under various investment arrangements in partnership with the Ghana government, were expected to generate employment for more than one million people», Anatoly Tkachuk stressed.

Furthermore, the delegation announced that Belarus would set up an embassy in Ghana soon.

In his turn, John Dramani Mahama called for closer collaboration between Ghanaian and Russian business communities. «Ghana is lagging behind in terms of infrastructure development and it would be a blessing if Russian businesses would support their Ghanaian counterparts to develop ports, railways, airports and the agriculture and education sectors».

Moreover, John Dramani Mahama added that apart from partnership at governmental level, there was the need for collaboration between their private sectors, which could create more jobs for the youth and facilitate national development.
