Issues of fuel and energy complex (FEC), economic and trade cooperation, financial, credit and price policy, as well as a range of social issues will be discussed at the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. As reported by Union State Secretary Pavel Borodin on March 2, the agenda of the meeting includes 39 questions, 29 of which are ready to be discussed.

«I think, there will be discussed 36-37 out of 39 questions that we’ve planned,» said the U.S. Secretary of the Union State. At his meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Miasnikovich, Pavel Borodin expressed hope that the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Ministers, scheduled for March 15 in Minsk, would be no less productive than the previous one, held in Moscow in October 2010, BelTA informs.

In turn, Mikhail Miasnikovich explained that it’s planned to sign several documents in addition to discussions on the planned agenda for the meeting of the Council of Ministers, such as intergovernmental agreements on construction of nuclear power plants, documents on the use of outer space for peaceful purposes, as well as papers on research in Antarctica. The parties plan to sign several agreements at the level of ministries and departments.

«There are many issues to discuss. But, to complement cooperation with specific economic projects is of primarily importance. It’s not just about assuring that the allied relations are important and necessary. The economy should be involved here. The economy workes properly — everything wil be all right in other areas as well,» said Mikhail Miasnikovich.

Prime Minister suggested discussing the issue of harmonization of integration within the Union State and the Customs Union at a meeting with Secretary of State of the Union. «We believe that we have gone a little further in the Russian-Belarusian direction, and we believe that this process should involve all the terms of the Customs Union,» noted the Belarusian Preme Minister.
