Belarus and Syria Plan to Establish Joint Venture for MAZ Assembling

At present, Belarus and Syria are in the process to create a joint venture to assemble MAZ trucks in Syria. It was reported by the Minister of Industry, Alexander Radzevich, during a visit of Syrian President, Bashar Assad, to Minsk Automobile Plant.

Since 1997, MAZ has delivered to Syria more than five thousand trucks, chief designer of the automobile plant, Alexander Zakharik, said. According to him, Syria buys almost all kinds of machines, manufactured by MAZ, including four-wheel drive and medium- tonnage trucks.

Today, in Damascus there actively developing public transport network, what requires its filling with passenger vehicles. In this regard, at present, MAZ offers Syrian partners a wide range of passenger buses, BelTA informs.

In Syria, the products of Minsk Automobile Plant are sold by two companies — Sakkal & Sons and Alfaraj, automobile plant representative said.
