Belarus and the EU to Adopt Plan of Actions in the Customs Sphere

Belarus and the EU decided to develop a joint plan of actions in the customs sphere. It was reported in the State Customs Committee of Belarus. Plan of actions between Belarus and the EU will include the convergence of customs legislation of Belarus and the European Union and adaptation of customs infrastructure of Belarus to the EU customs infrastructure.

Moreover, joint plan will include the exchange of preliminary information between Belarus and the EU within the framework of SPEED project.

Such agreements were reached during a visit of the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Alexander Shpilevsky, to Brussels from June 24 to 26 this year, where, during the sessions of World Customs Organization’s Council, there were held regional consultations on cooperation in customs sphere and principles of coordinated management on the border.

The head of the SCC also held meetings with representatives of the European Commission, during which they discussed the ways of further cooperation on organization and exchange of preliminary information between customs bodies of Belarus and the EU, as well as possibility to provide the EU’s international technical assistance to Belarus’ customs service.
