Despite the difficult economic, domestic and foreign political situation in Belarus, the country has "convincingly proved its ability to respond to current global challenges." This was stated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in his greeting speech of the fourth officers' meeting of the Armed Forces of Belarus on December 8.
«The Belarusian state has been time-tested for strength of socio-political and economic model, implemented in Belarus, as well as the entire system of national security. There were economic sanctions and political demarches against our country, attempts to destabilize the political situation and military intensification right at the state borders during this period,» the statement of the president says.
The President expressed appreciation to the officers for understanding and selfless work, thanks to which Belarus had been able to achieve high results in the formation and development of the Army as a «guarantor of peace and creative labor of the country’s citizens,» BelTA informs.
Alexander Lukashenko also emphasized that the improvement of the military security system is a continuous process. The President said that Belarus is now focused on the intensive growth of the combat capabilities of the Army due to upgrading and refurbishment of weapons systems and improvement of all the structural elements of the defense department.
Strengthening Sense of Patriotism is Priority, Lukashenko
The Belarusian leader noted that the strengthening of social sense of patriotism, an effective strategic deterrence and the development of the state military organization are the priority for the protection of national interests.
«Today, the Republic of Belarus is an independent, sovereign European state, able to ensure peace, stability and security. Such a course will be maintained in the future, because the policies of the state are supported by the Belarusian people,» Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
