Belarus Cut Oil Imports by 33%

Belarus reduced oil imports to 13.2 million tons during January-November 2010, which is 33% less in comparison with January-November 2009. The average price of imported oil increased by 37.4% — to $447 per ton. In particular, 1.6 million tons of Venezuelan oil with the average price of $639 per ton were imported in May and November. 

However, according to Telegraf, Venezuela and Belarus signed documents for the supply of four million tons of Venezuelan oil to Belarus in 2010.

Oil imports from Russia amounted to 11.6 million tons in January-November, which is 41% smaller than in the period of 2009, AFN. The average price rose by 29.4% to $421 per ton, Belstat.

The volume of duty-free Russian oil supplies is planned to be equal to 6.3 million tons in 2010, the remainder is imposed by a 100% export duty.

Year’s Production of Potassium Doubled

Belarus increased its production of potash fertilizers to 5.22 million tons in 2010, which is 2.1 times more than in 2009. Exports of these products increased by 2.4 times and amounted to 3.87 million tons in January-November. The average export price of potassium was $529  per tonne, which is 32.7% less compared with the same period in 2009.

In 2009, the production of potassium made 2.485 million tons (twice less than in 2008), while 1.75 million tons (53.9% less in comparison with 2008) were exported.
