Belarus Defeated Italy and Went into 2011 Soccer Euro Final

Youth Belarusian football team won the right to play in the final stage of European Championship 2011 to be held in Denmark. Belarusian football players beat Italian team 3:0 in the play-off match of the qualifying round in Borisov on October 12. Thus, the Belarusian "junior" went again into the final of the European Championship for the third time in history.

Mohileu «Dnepr» forward Vladimir Yurchenko opened the score at the fourth minute of the game, punishing the guests for their blunders in the defense. The next minute he went out one on one with goalkeeper Italian Vito Mannon and doubled the score — 2:0. Then the Italian players were able to seize the initiative, but could not hit the gates of Alexander Gutor till the end of the match.

Referee ordered the extra time, since Italians won the first game with the same score 2:0 in Rieti on October 8. Oleg Veretilo, playing for the Minsk Dynamo, scored a third goal at the 6th minute of overtime, which led the Belarusian team to the finals of the continental championship.

National team of Belarus: Gutor, Veretilo, Filippenko, Politevich, Gordeychuk, Sivakov (Baga, 77), Dragun, Yurchenko, Nekhaichik, Rekish (Voronkov, 46), Skavysh (Matveychik, 110).

European Championship is to be held in Denmark, in summer 2011, where eight teams will compete for the Olympics 2012 in London. Apart from the Belarusians, other participants of the European Championship are going to be as follows: Denmark as an organizer of the finals, England, having beat Romanian footballers (2:1, 0:0), Switzerland, having taken precedence over the Swedes (4:1, 1:1), Iceland, having surpassed the Scots ( 2:1, 2:1), Czech Republic, having beat Greeks (3:0, 2:0), Spain, having defeated Croatia (2:1, 3:0), Ukraine, having surpassed the Dutch (3:1, 0:2) .
