Belarus doesn't Ignore IMF Recommendations, Miasnikovich

Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Miasnikovich said on February 23 that the government does not ignore the findings and recommendations of international financial institutions. According to him, their implementation will help Belarus to achieve the task — to improve its positions in major international rankings. 

«IMF and World Bank’s ratings provide the world community with the information on Belarus and the prospects for cooperation with this country,» said the Belarusian Prime Minister, representing a draft program of the Government for 2011-2015 to the House of Representatives, BelTA informs.

«This year we’re planning to take all decisions on including Belarus into the thirty world’s top countries on business conditions. Directive № 4 was of huge help in solving this issue. As requested by the President, the documents, necessary for its implementation, will be prepared by the Government as early as in the first half of 2011. Specific areas of work are outlined in the relevant section of the government program,» informed the head of the Council of Ministers.

«The government is considering the issue of Belarus’s joining the rankings of global competitiveness, economic freedom, the transition to a higher group of credit risks’ classification. Members of the government are individually assigned to each component of the rating,» said Mikhail Miasnikovich.

The Prime Minister said that the targeted measures to improve the position of Belarus in the leading international ratings have been provided in the government program for the first time. This goal’s implementation, he said, would help to attract foreign investors into the country, and for this purpose one «needs to work according to the criteria, developed by the world community.»

Miasnikovich Supported Idea of KAMAZ and MAZ Integration

According to Mikhail Miasnikovich, the Belarusian leadership places special hopes for the Customs Union. «Our government is planning  to create powerful international corporations with participation of the Belarusian enterprises to affect the commodity markets, sales to switch into the global supply chains,» deputy prime minister.

The head of government said that after the Russian KAMAZ and MAZ merger new venture could become one of the largest automakers in the world. He said that discussion of MAZ and KAMAZ cooperation was currently active. What is more the issue of integration of microelectronics companies is being worked out as well.

As Telegraf previously reported, the IMF recommended that the Belarusian authorities to tighten monetary policy and to devalue the national currency on February 22. In turn, chairman of the National Bank Petr Prokopovich presented a report to the Head of State confirming that the ruble devaluation is not planned.
