Belarus doesn't Meet Sanitary Standards, Onishchenko

Russia's chief sanitary doctor, Gennady Onishchenko, has stated that Belarus does not comply with sanitary obligations within the Customs Union with Kazakhstan and Russia. "We reserve the right to accept asymmetrical but effective measures, forcing to the execution of obligations under the Customs Union," noted the official.

According to him, there’s a ban on the import and sale of «certain products from certain countries» in Russia in contrast to Belarus. Gennady Onishchenko has also stressed that, despite official warnings of the Russian colleagues, the Belarusian health authorities do not restrict «the use of these products in the economic territory of the Russian Federation,» reports «Narodnaya Volia

As Telegraf previously reported, commission of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan zeroized import duties on some vegetables. This decision was published at the site of the commission on April 4. Thus, zero duty on was introduced on carrots, beets and onions’ imports.
