The leader of Za Svabodu (For Freedom) Movement Alexander Milinkevich passed his opinion of the gas conflict between Belarus and Russia. In particular the politician considers that our country needs pragmatic good-neighbourhood and mutually advantageous relations with the Russian Federation, instead of regular conflicts, unpredictability and confrontation.

According to Alexander Milinkevich, «only market reforming of economy and its modernisation with the help of the civilised countries, first of all the EU, democratisation and respect of the economic, political and civil rights of the Belarusians, and also national unity and concord can form the strong base to preservation of independence and flourishing of the Belarusian state», the press-service of the Za Svabodu Movement informs.

According to the politician, the latest events, connected with the debts of our country to Gazprom and Gazprom’s debt to Belarus, reflect the «serious crisis in political relations between the authorities of two states».

«At the same time, it’s obvious for everyone that the command-administrative economic model constructed in Belarus is not viable in the conditions of market economy and real prices for energy resources», Alexander Milinkevich said
