Belarus Established 6.390 Polling Stations for Presidential Elections

Belarus has established 6.390 polling stations for presidential elections, the Secretary of the Central Commission for Elections Nikolai Lozovik said on October 18. According to the CEC representative, the largest number of electoral precincts was formed in Homel and Minsk voblast (1114 and 1085, respectively).

Bdest voblast has established 986 polling stations, Vitebsk voblast — 911, Mahileu — 818, Hrodna — 730, Nikolai Lozovik said, BelTA informs.

702 polling stations were established for the elections in the capital. 280 of them will work in health-resorts, sanatoria, hospitals and other medical establishments, and 52 — in military units. In addition, 44 polling stations were formed outside Belarus.

As Telegraf previously reported, precinct election commissions will be created after the formation of stations, as well as the nomination of representatives to be included in the commissions will start. Each polling commission may include from 5 to 19 people. At the same time commissions, formed abroad, became an exception.

Belarusian presidential elections will be held on December 19. Action groups to nominate potential candidates for president will be collecting signatures (at least 100.000) from September 30 to October 29.

The registration of candidates will take place from November 14 to 23. Early voting is to be held on December 14-18. The final results of voting will take place no later than December 29. The second round, if necessary, will be held no later than January 2, 2011.
