Belarus Gets the Fifth Tranche of the IMF Credit

In May 2010, the next fund experts' mission is expected in the country, during which they will summarize the final results of stand-by program implementation. The parts will also discuss specific issues of further cooperation between Belarus and the IMF, BelTA informs.

The National Bank stressed that the implementation of this program has played one of the key roles in stabilizing Belarusian economy in 2009 — the beginning of 2010, as well as gave the possibility to maintain stability in the foreign exchange market, provide more stability of the financial system, support the confidence of investors and households.

As Telegraf previously reported, the Board of Executive Directors of the IMF «noted established in Belarus
correspondence of the macroeconomic situation conducted by the government and monetary and fiscal policy».

«During the meeting, the Executive Directors noted the significant progress made by Belarus in the work to rebuild the economy after the global crisis, and emphasized successful realization of parameters and conditions of stand-by program by our country», said in the statement  of the NBB.

Belarus received the first tranche of the IMF loan of $ 800 million in January 2009. The second tranche was received in July — there were about 680 million dollars. In October 2009, Belarus received the next tranche of the International Monetary Fund’s loan in the amount of 699.5 million dollars. The fourth tranche of the IMF loan in the amount of more than 688 million dollars was received in December of last year.
