Belarus got out of the situation Russia had put it in early 2010. It was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at the meeting on the operation of oil refining industry of the country. The President put the industry on a par with food security issues.

«Hydrocarbon raw materials’ refining, supplies for domestic use and export, our state’s provision with hydrocarbon raw materials is similar to the question whether Belarus to be or not to be a sovereign and independent state. Therefore, this is an important area of our activity, and we should find the solution for this situation with honor and dignity, as we did in agriculture. To be more exact — we have already found», Alexander Lukashenko stressed at the meeting held at Mozyr Oil Refinery.

«We are not going to fight against Russia on all fronts — I put it in quotes. We do not need any wars and complications. But we must proceed (it is classic) from that there should be alternatives in nay situation, including hydrocarbon raw materials supplies to the country», the head of state added.

Moreover, during the visit to Mozyr oil refinery Alexander Lukashenko confirmed state plans for further supplies of oil from Venezuela: in the amount from eight to nine million tons in 2011, and in 2012 it was planned to increase them up to ten million tons.

As Belneftekhim Chairman, Valery Kazakevich, assured Belarusian leader, Belarusian oil refineries could process this volume of raw materials. In his turn, the director general of Mozyr oil refinery, Anatoly Kupriyanov, reported that at the company there organized reconstruction and modernization, which would increase oil processing to five million tons and more annually.

By the end of the year Mozyr oil refinery would reach last year’s amounts, including processing of recyclable materials, and subsequently had opportunities to increase it, Valery Kazakevich said. The head of state underlined that no disaster had happened neither from financial, nor from production point of view. «But we see the next year even better», Alexander Lukashenko added.
