Belarus' Gross Foreign Debt Grew to $ 22 Billion

January 1, 2010, Belarus' Gross foreign debt amounted to $ 22 billion, increasing by 6.87 billion (45.4%) in 2009, including by 2.73 billion (14.2%) in the fourth quarter. It follows from the data of Belarusian National Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, the external debt of state administration institutions increased by 1.32 billion dollars (36.9 %) over the year, including by 349.9 million (7.6%), up to 4.92 billion in the fourth quarter, informs AFN.

External debt of monetary regulation institutions reached 3.86 billion dollars at the beginning of the year, almost nine times increasing over 2009, including 1.34 billion (53.2%) in the fourth quarter, according to Belstat.

External debt of commercial banks increased by 471.9 million (15.3%) over the last year, and on January 1, 2010, amounted to 3.55 billion dollars.

According to the Statistics Committee, the external debt of other sectors of the economy reached 8.93 billion dollars, increasing by 1.6 billion (21.9%) over 2009, including 607.9 million dollars (7.3%) in the fourth quarter.

Last year, direct investment increased by 37.8 million (5.3%), up to 757 million dollars comparing with January 1,2010, comes from Belstat data.
