Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Miasnikovich believes that Belarus as a full member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has every right to get a loan from the organization. "We can count on some support in a difficult moment," said the Belarusian Prime Minister during his meeting with head of the IMF mission to Belarus Chris Jarvis on June 13.

Head of the Belarusian government met with the IMF mission representatives to discuss key issues in the loan allocation and to work out an agreed program of action, according to RIA Novosti.

«We will discuss the issue of quality of implementation of the mission recommendations, set last time, as well as will coordinate positions for the next period and discuss issues related to our appeal for the stabilization loan,» said Mikhail Miasnikovich at the beginning of the meeting.

Chris Jarvis, in turn, said that the experts of the mission had developed «a pretty good idea about the current economic situation in Belarus» after meetings with representatives of the Belarusian government, the National Bank, economists, diplomats and trade union leaders of the country.

The IMF mission head said that the experts had suggested «some options» for the Government of Belarus to overcome the economic crisis.

As for the allocation of the loan to Belarus, Chris Jarvis noted that the issue is still in its first stage of review.

According to Telegraf, Belarus asked the IMF for a stabilization loan of $8 billion. The Ministry of Finance of Belarus believes that the chances of getting the IMF loan are quite high.
